fifty people one question
Fifty People, One Question: Brooklyn from Fifty People, One Question on Vimeo.
fifty people one question is an on going social and film experiment which began in new orleans and has since travelled across the world and has touched millions of people including me. one of the questions was.."if you could wake up any where tomorrow where would it be?" an answer was.."in Paradise...a serene place no worries, its limitless to a fruitful living" really like this, it just makes me happy. the project was created by deltree a company promoting the 'potential of human connection'.

"moral judgement as such have no business influencing what or is not permissible in a liberal state. The function of the Law is to protect and honor our capacity to lead our lives as we choose and that of necessity includes the possibility of choosing to display, engage with or create works which are obscene or immoral"

the young design programme - sorrell foundation
The Young Design programme is a project which encourages students to gain direct involvement with designing prototypes of good design for their school, encouraging inspiring design and allowing students to gain experience with live briefs. Bellow is an Photo taken from The inspiration day for the Young Design Programme. I am involved with a group of university students (designers) and a group of high school students ( the clients). The purpose of the day was to highlight efficient, sustainable and aesthetic design.

diana photography
i have always enjoyed photography. photography has the ability to capture exact moments in time which enables it to be unlike any other artistic medium. photography generally doesn't lie and I like that.
i received a 'diana' camera for christmas which is a simple lo-quality camera and it takes really unusual photos. I will hopefully take some interesting snaps. like the ones above.

My Favourite Place from Kate Dickinson on Vimeo.
the photos above are of a site specific project which enabled me to play with space, colour, light, sculpture.....my project culminated in a video of reflecting on peoples favourite place.
Artists who I appreciate and who influence me are people like Martin Nicolausson. Martin is a Swedish designer and graphic artist. This photo above is a seesaw bench designed by himself and Tom Eriksson. The intention was to facilitate a conversation in attempt to get strangers to talk in public spaces.
"This bench requires co-operation to be functional"
I really like this statement, obviously this design will not be seen in every park but the concept is well considered and this simple alteration to the design enables the bench to become a totally different piece of furniture.

I appreciate good colour relationships and this is what I like about the work bellow. I enjoy playing with water colour as a method to take projects further, above is a design that I have worked over in photoshop repeating patterns and colours. we are surrounded by colour, so why not make exciting colour.

hvass and hannibal
hvass&hannibal is a design and art studio based in copenhagen, established in 2006 by sofie hannibal and nan na hvass. the artists work within art and design - basically everything from album covers to music videos, graphic art, silkscreening, art direction, illustration, installation and lots more.
looking into a variety of sources for inspiration, 'Its nice that' is a daily creative blog that displays a variety of art, design, sculpture, film etc. i like how this design team ventures into a variety of artistic arenas this is how i would like to develop my practice.
I was really excited to do the video blogging module. I found the Lumiere concept a really interesting idea, it required a lot more thought before filming. I also like how there were restrictions to the Lumiere like, the film can only be a minute, the film cannot be edited and the camera can't be moved during filming.
I have only recently discovered film as a medium of Art, I like the way you get quick results and how once the film is captured the editing process is so vast and exciting. I will continue into looking at film artists who are making their mark on advertising, Artt and Design, film, blogging and TV.

julien lassort and matthieu burlot
L'homme 100 tĂȘtes from Julien Lassort on Vimeo.
vimeo is a website where people can create videos and upload them, this is a really good method of getting your work seen and allowing people to comment on your work. I have referred to this site on many occasions as it is a quick source of inspiration.
this video is by julien lassort and matthieu burlot. the two artists were playing with the most exposed and personal part of the body, the face. the music is progressive and fits well with the work. i feel the piece is very current in the way it uses stop motion animation and simplicity to great effect. i can see technical parallels with the way current advertising is presented like in the infamous Sony Bravia Adverts ( the plasterscine rabbits).
i have highlighted this work because it is simple and lo tech yet displays a definate sophistication and obviously a lot of time will have gone into the production.
